We hosted a roundtable last week to foster a setting comprised of companies, non-profits, and institutions to hear and learn from each other on how to safely and sustainably reopen our offices. We are all navigating these unprecedented times somewhat blindly, so let' build off of, and lean on, each other.
We consolidated and anonymized key takeaways and resources from that discussion.
Our worlds have been disrupted. In some ways, this is a good thing, as our "old normal" was severely broken and inequitable. We now have the opportunity to collectively create a more sustainable and just "new normal."
The disposable foodware lifecycle is not equitable. The lifecycle includes upstream (raw material extraction, production, transportation) and downstream (disposal). This week we wanted to focus on one particular segment of that lifecycle that is arguably the most personable to us as consumers but massively overlooked in terms of social equality: waste collectors.
